Playing in that scorepoker tournament at the golf club was an interesting experience. I ended up playing very tight which got me to the final table but very short stacked. I got lucky when I pocket some middle pairs, went all in, and quickly doubled up. At the same time some of the other scorepoker players knocked eachother out. I found myself in third place, very short stacked.
The two other players were actually buddies of mine that I came with. Out of 14 players at the tournament, the 3 of us ended up playing against eachother for the gold, silver, and bronze. Anyway, friend #1 turned to friend #2 and said, "Ok, let's get rid of this guy and will split the winnings." I dont't know why the firm alarm didn't go off because there was smoke coming out of my ears. I was upset
It was my feeling that he blinds were still very low so it was not worth my time to fold hands. I decided to play my 2-7's and hope to flop something. Well my plan worked. I raised pre-flop, and raised post flop. Suddenly, they were folding hands that were beating my nothings. And of course the few times they called my raises, I had some cards.
Happy ending. I won the scorepoker tournament. The lesson is, aggressive play pays off in the end because you win hands you should win, and hands you shouldn't.
